  • Tanoan Community , Ian (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
Tanoan was a luxurious concept in the 1970's, a gated community with a private golf course. However, the construction on a former landfill has proven to be a little shaky, and this area has been replaced by High Desert as the most upscale neighborhood in the Heights.

  • The New Roundabout, Feed Up with Red Light (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
Albuquerque always brags about being an International World Class Tourist Destination. Maybe Albuquerque ought to start acting like it and gut all the intersections with stop lights and replace them with roundabouts. Stop lights are time comsuming. Stop light regulate traffic. With a roundabout all you have to do is slow doing when driving around the roundabout. The traffic is always flowing with roundabouts. Stopping at a light is worst now in Albuquerque. The mayor has put up a red light camera program. If caught running a red light the camera takes a photo of your license plate and sends it through the mail. The red light camera tickets cost $100 USD if caught the first time. If a police officer catches you running a red light the ticket is only $50 USD. All this could be avoided if there were more roundabouts. At Old Town Albuquerque there are two intersections with long stop lights. Old Town, Downtown, and the Bioparks are the most popular Tourist destnations in Albuquerque. Make Albquerque more tourist freindly with roundabouts like the tourist cities in Europe and England have. In future interscection planning they need to go with rounabout designs instead or stop light intersections. When a current intersection is replaced they need to redesign it with a roundabout. In America too many people are on the go and are impatient and a stop light will only make it worst haveing to sit at a light while commting. A roundabout will relieve a person who is always rushing while commuting and impatient while sitting at a light. This is the 21st Century we need to look at new ideas at how we design our traffic patterns in the future.
